New Service Eases the Burden of Quarterly WEEE Submissions

Despite the current uncertainty about where the WEEE regulations will go, Clarity has a long-term vision to continue growing the membership to our WEEE compliance scheme and to build and adapt the services we offer.

One of the legal obligations for producers under the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, is to keep accurate records of the types and quantity of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) they put onto the UK market. Producers must submit this data every quarter.

Clarity is launching an additional service, in time for the next quarterly return in October. This Data Plus service, available in the members’ area of our WEEE compliance website, will simplify quarterly submissions and provide our members with their own data collection service.

Clarity’s Managing Director, David Adams, said: “We have designed Data Plus to help ease the burden of quarterly submissions for our members. It isn’t compulsory, but we do recommend it. “Whilst the initial inputting of data may take a bit of time, the service will then save man hours each quarter when members complete their WEEE data submissions, enabling clean, quick and transparent data input for those members who use it.”

Using a familiar cart system, Clarity’s WEEE compliance members can select the number of products they have placed onto the UK market, broken down by business-to-business and business-to-consumer, and the system will then calculate the total weights for that quarter. The list can be created and updated as you go, or completed in one go before the quarterly deadline.

The varied benefits include:

With changes to the WEEE regulations imminent, Clarity has made sure that this service is future-proofed and can be adapted as and when changes are introduced, for example to categories. Data Plus is available on the members’ area of our website now, with guidance on how to use the new service.

Don’t forget to complete your quarter three data submission by Friday, 25 October 2013.
