Q3 Packaging Data Leads to Significant Rise in PRN Prices

The PRN market has responded to last month’s release of the Q3 packaging data, with some grades seeing significant price rises.

Chris Taylor, Clarity Environmental’s Commercial Manager, commented on the latest developments:

“Last month’s release of the Q3 packaging data indicated that it was going to be a challenge to meet the overall recovery target following the change in specification for what counted as recovery. The PRN market has responded to this data, and paper, wood and EfW have since seen significant price rises, going from around £1 a tonne to between £4 and £5 a tonne within a matter of days.

“Since the quarterly returns were verified, an additional 43,000T of EFW has now been added to Q2 and Q3 combined, which means that it now looks far more achievable for the targets to be met by the end of the year and we should see prices returning to normal.”
