We are delighted to welcome new recruit, Sophia Lacey, to our team.
Joining our waste to fuel and PRN trading division earlier this month as Business Development Executive, Sophia has experience in the waste and resource sector and a huge passion for the environment and sustainability.
Having completed her Master’s degree in Environmental Assessment and Management at the University of Brighton with a focus on waste management, Sophia previously worked for a Waste to Energy conference provider, where she gained a passion for, and valuable insight into, our industry.
Sophia is looking after our PRN customers, ensuring that we obtain sufficient PRNs to cover our growing packaging compliance members’ obligations each year, as well as helping us to expand our established and growing network of UK refuse derived fuel (RDF), solid recovered fuel (SRF) and wood recycling outlets.
Keen to join a business that would enable her to use and grow her knowledge of waste management, Sophia says she was impressed with the culture of our business: “Clarity has such a fantastic involvement in the community, which is very important to me. The team genuinely wants to make a difference, and I am happy to play a part in that. I have already learnt so much, and the team spirit here is incredible. It’s about us working together to move things in a positive direction, which is exactly why I wanted to join Clarity.”
“It’s a really exciting time to be working in the industry”, she added. “There is so much focus on improving how the waste management industry operates and is involved with the wider environment. It is no longer just about a throwaway culture, it’s also about prevention and utilising resources in a more renewable way.”
Passionate about the environment, Sophia keeps herself busy with a range of volunteer work. She also conducts ecological surveys in her spare time, organises monthly networking events with a focus on environmental sustainability in Brighton and writes sustainability blogs.
Amazingly, she has time for even more hobbies. She is a keen motorcyclist, enjoys yoga and gardening.
