We’re delighted to share that Clarity will be sponsoring another assistance puppy in training through Veterans with Dogs – a charity helping former members of the Armed Forces living with complex mental health challenges.
Veterans With Dogs is a specialist charity that trains and places assistance dogs with veterans experiencing conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Through the companionship and practical support of a specially trained dog, the charity helps veterans manage their symptoms, rebuild their confidence and independence, and improve their quality of life. Its support extends beyond the placement of each dog, helping veterans and their canine partners develop a lasting and effective partnership.
Clarity has supported Veterans With Dogs through our Clarity Cares programme since 2023, when we began sponsoring our first assistance dog. We were privileged to follow her journey from puppy training through to her eventual placement with a veteran, where she went on to make an incredible difference not only to the veteran’s life, but also to the lives of their wider family.
Having seen the lasting impact that partnership created, we didn’t hesitate to support another brilliant puppy with the potential to transform a veteran’s life.
The entire Clarity team contributed suggestions for our new sponsored puppy’s name, with ‘Sunny’ emerging as the winning choice. The name reflects the hope and joy this clever yellow Labrador will one day bring to her veteran’s life – and Veterans With Dogs agreed that it was “perfect” for her.
Sunny has now been placed with a puppy socialiser, who will introduce her to a variety of everyday environments and experiences while helping her develop the calm, confident disposition required of an assistance dog. She will then progress through the charity’s Partner Animal Life Skills (PALS) Puppy Programme before eventually being partnered with a veteran in need.
